The vision, commitment, and diligence of the more than 200 Forum member
volunteers who help the Forum deliver on its Promise of Essential
Learning, Compelling Experiences and Powerful Resources, is something to
behold.
Together, committee, working groups, and ambassadors assist in creating
a rewarding and valuable member experience. There is a real sense of
camaraderie, and the generosity of member-leaders is impressive. The
collaborative spirit that abounds in these committee and task forces
speaks to the effectiveness and value of the "Chicago
Governance Model" that guides the Forum's volunteer activities.
The Forum is committed to ethical and responsible decision-making and
transparency in governance. All volunteer leaders, authors, and
speakers are required to sign a Conflict of Interest statement. The
Forum recognizes that conflicts of interest will always exist for
volunteers and are acceptable so long as all parties are made aware of
such conflicts prior to service. Committee and Working Group chairs
are required to ask at the beginning of all meetings whether anyone in
attendance has a potential conflict of interest relating to the work of
the committee or working group.
To ensure against even the appearance of insider influence or other
inappropriate dealing, some parameters have been established concerning
product and service selection and purchasing. The Forum will not
select a product or service that is represented by or has any familial or
other relationship to any person involved in the planning, development or
execution of a Forum program. For example, if the Holiday Showcase
Working Group recommends that 2000 widgets be purchased for use at the
Holiday Showcase, the Forum will not purchase these widgets from members
of that Working Group.
If you'd like to make a contribution of your time and talent, and be
part of a unique and positive community of member-leaders, please respond
to this "Call for Leadership." Participate as a Forum volunteer and you'll
enjoy a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Those who serve a full-term as a committee chair or committee member
are eligible for CAE hours on the Certified Association Executive renewal
form. Please refer to the CAE renewal form for details (available
from ASAE & The Center).
If you are one of the more than 200 members who have already realized
the value of the volunteer experience at the Forum, please note that there
is no automatic carryover for committee/task force appointments. Please
let us know if you would like to continue in 2008/09. Please
note that the Forum Board Policy Manual allows members to serve on a
committee for not more than three consecutive years.
We look forward to including you in the 2008/09 volunteer year!
