Data Mining and Business Intelligence: Harness the Power for Your Association!

Business Intelligence and Data Mining - hot buzzwords in the association community. But what do they really mean? What opportunities and pitfalls do they present to marketing and membership professionals? Using real-life case studies, participants will learn about these two important topics, how they're being used in the association market, and whether or not their association could benefit from these processes. Audience exercises will help identify specific data mining opportunities in participants' own organization databases. The session also will provide practical business intelligence approaches for associations, and participants will leave this session with strategies and tactics for extracting key data that can be put into practice that day.

Wes Trochlil is president of Effective Database Management, located in Hamilton , VA. For more than 17 years, Wes has worked in and with dozens of associations, non-profits, and membership organizations throughout the US , ranging in size from three staff to over 700. In that time Wes has provided a range of consulting services, from general consulting on data management issues to full-scale, organization-wide selection and implementation of data management systems.

Wes is a member of ASAE and the Center for Association Leadership, where he serves on the Technology Section Council. He is past Chair of the Membership Section Council. He is also a member of the Society for Advancement of Consulting.
