About the Presenter:


Deputy Chief Steve Georgas proudly took the oath of a Chicago Police Officer on November 18, 1991, and is presently assigned to Detached Services to work with the Metropolitan Pier and Exhibition Authority, the government agency that owns McCormick Place, the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, the new Marriot Marquis and Wintrust Arena. In his previous assignment, Deputy Georgas was in command of the Special Functions Group. In this assignment he oversaw the Airport Law Enforcement Section, Public Transportation Section, Special Weapons & Tactics (SWAT) Team, Bomb Squad, Traffic Unit, Detail Unit, Marine & Helicopter Unit, Mounted Unit, Canine Unit and Troubled Buildings Unit. In addition to this assignment, over the past seven years Georgas planned and was assigned as Incident Commander of most large scale events within the city. Some of these include the 2012 NATO Summit, the Chicago Marathon, the 2016 World Series and Cubs Championship Parade & Rally, the 2010, 2013 and 2015 Stanley Cup Championship games, celebrations and victory parades, all high-profile visits such as the President of the United States or foreign leaders and various other large-scale demonstrations.

Georgas earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration at Western Illinois University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
