Service Project

Did you know that one in six residents in the Chicagoland community turns to the Greater Chicago Food Depository network each year for nutritious food? This includes families in Chicago and throughout Cook County. Association Forum is teaming up once again with Tourism Vancouver, our Corporate Social Responsibility partner, for new volunteer project.

Donate 10-15 minutes of your time while at Holiday Showcase to make an impact on hunger by helping package
5,000 meals for families in need. These meals will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository to provide families with meals during the holiday season!  The Outreach Program is a non-profit that organizes food packaging events around the country. With more than 330 million meals packaged to date, the organization’s mission is to provide safe waterfoodmedical care, and education to those in need, at home and abroad.

What Do You Need To Know?

The project is open on the show floor from Noon – 4 p.m. OR until 5,000 meals are packaged.

Look for the Tourism Vancouver booth (#1022) and the project is steps away!

Safety First: Participants will need to sanitize their hands and wear a hair net to ensure that we deliver sanitary meal kits.

Snap a selfie of you packing a meal at Holiday Showcase. Post the picture on Twitter or Instagram using #VanGiving and tag @MeetVancouver for a chance to win an all-inclusive trip to Vancouver for two!

How it Works?

  • The meals have been formulated by Iowa State University Food Science department to be nutritious and delicious.
  • Volunteers will gather around an assembly line to package nutritious meals for the hungry.
  • You will begin on one end by scooping ingredients into a funnel with a quart-size bag.
  • The bag will be passed down the line, weighed, sealed and sent to the local food bank to help feed the hungry.
