Bio

Karen has leveraged her paralegal training to support members of the actuarial profession since 2014. Currently, she is the Director of Governance at the Society of Actuaries (SOA) where she manages SOA elections, supports the SOA Board of Directors, and other policy and governance administration. She initially served in various roles within the international department at the SOA. Previously, she worked for the American Academy of Actuaries as the legal assistant supporting work around professionalism, guidance, and discipline. Karen is keenly focused on life-long learning, both for her organization’s members as well as her colleagues, channeling her passion to championing staff development and volunteer work with Association Forum and ASAE.

Karen achieved her CAE designation in Spring 2021 and was awarded the Association Forum Forty Under 40 award in late 2021. She received her Bachelor’s degree in History, With Honors from Loyola University Chicago and her Paralegal Certificate from Roosevelt University Chicago. Outside of work, she is an elected official and serves as a Trustee for her local library’s Board of Trustees where she supports her community and continues her championship of life-long learning.
