KariAnn DeServi, MEd, has led an impressive career as an early elementary school teacher and Director of Education in her 23 years working in the field of education. In 1999, she received her BSE from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater majoring in Elementary Education minoring in Early Childhood and her MEd from National Louis University with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007.

Serving as the Director of Education for ABSA International, Kari plays a major role in working with committee members and SMEs to develop virtual or in-person professional development courses, grow the educational library of courses for members, and contribute to the advancement of biosafety and biosecurity education for ABSA’s membership community. Through her commitment to this role, she has helped ABSA International improve the variety of courses offered through the use of technology, incorporating interactive exercises, and creating an on-demand portal for learners to access previous courses.

Prior to her current role at ABSA International, Kari taught 2nd grade at Jackson Elementary on the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) U.S. Army base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and 1st grade in Antioch, IL. where she created an engaging learning environment for her students, incorporated technology into their everyday learning, and lead various committees/projects within the schools.

In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors with her husband, son, and GSP Gunner, watching her son go-kart race, gardening, and scrapbooking her family’s adventures.
