This program will teach you the basics of conducting an organizational risk assessment and the basics of creating a plan to address the risks in a way that supports the long-term growth of your organization.

Shawn Randall is an audit manager at PBG Financial Services, Inc.. He is a licensed certified public accountant in Illinois, Texas and Oklahoma. He has been serving not-for-profit clients since 2007. His industry specialties include not-for-profits with Yellow Book and A-133 compliance and foundations. In his role, he completes a risk assessment as part of his audit.

Dennis P. Gogarty is the President of Raffa Investment Advisers and serves as lead adviser to many client relationships.  Dennis launched his investment advisory career with Raffa Financial Services, Inc. in 2002 and cofounded Raffa Investment Advisers in 2005. Since co-founding RIA, he has served as the firm’s President and lead investment adviser representative. Dennis actively promotes the need for increased investment education and transparency. He is the founder of the Study on Nonprofit Investing (SONI), an annual study promoting access to information that allows nonprofits to benchmark their investment performance and policies with their peers.

Dennis has lectured on issues impacting nonprofit investing for the following organizations: The Council on Foundations, the Greater Washington Society of CPAs, the AICPA, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), BoardSource, and the Finance and Administration Roundtable (FAR). Dennis has served as Chair of ASAE’s Finance and Business Operations Professional Council.  Additionally, he offered his knowledge and expertise to support local nonprofits as a committee member for organizations including St. John’s Community Services Foundation and StreetLaw.

Dennis completed the Certificate in Financial Planning program at the Georgetown University Center for Continuing and Professional Education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Frostburg State University. Dennis is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary®, and an investment adviser representative of Raffa Investment Advisers.  

 

Ryan Frydenlund

Ryan Frydenlund is Raffa Investment Adviser’s Senior Operations Manager and ensures that clients receive an extraordinary level of service.

Ryan’s work is broad-ranging including portfolio management, operational, and administrative responsibilities. Ryan serves as the primary contact for many of RIA’s clients. Ryan joined RIA in 2017 and received his Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) designation, administered by the CFA Institute, in 2019.  Ryan received his Certificate in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing, also administered by the CFA Institute, in 2022.

Ryan has lectured or been quoted on issues impacting nonprofit investing for the following organizations: Marcum’s Nonprofit Learning Community, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and Association TRENDS.  Ryan is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Colorado Society of Association Executives (CSAE). 

Ryan graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Ryan’s career began in 2014 at Cambridge Associates, LLC where, as an Investment Operations Analyst, he prepared research materials for use in investment appraisal, created capital markets exhibits, and answered stakeholder inquiries as a subject matter expert on investment fund intricacies. Ryan has served as a panelist for a CFA Society of Washington DC conference on Portfolio Management Software. Ryan is a member of the CFA Society of Colorado. Ryan is an investment adviser representative of RIA.

  

 

Joe Guest

Joe Guest joined Raffa Investment Advisers in 2020. He works closely with the President and Chief Investment Officer to support the firm’s portfolio management and reporting responsibilities.  Joe also serves as the main portfolio management contact for RIA’s retirement plan advisory business. 

Joe graduated from DePaul University with degrees in Economics and Accounting. Over his 10 years in the industry, he has held many positions. Prior to joining RIA, Joe served as Head of Operations at a wealth management firm. Joe earned his Series 65 license in 2017 and is a Certified Investment Management Analyst. Joe is also an investment adviser representative of RIA.
